Creator and CEO of
Diabulimia Helpline, 20-year-old Erin M. Akers was
diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes when she was ten
years old. She struggled with controlling her blood sugar
and weight for years until at the age of 14 she discovered
the connection between insulin omission and weight loss.
After dropping a substantial amount of weight her
endocrinologist dropped her as a patient when he found out
her uncontrolled sugars were intentional. This was the
start of a dark journey for Erin that would last over half
a decade and eventually lead her here.
