Center for Change provides 24 hour, 7 day a week diabulimia treatment, nursing, and dietary care which moves patients from unstable blood sugars that are generated by their eating disorder, through the refeeding process into stable blood sugars and towards a healthy and individualized weight range.   In addition to nursing staff, we have physicians and nurse practitioners who evaluate patients consistently and provide medical interventions related to their specific needs. Located in Orem, Utah, Center for Change has a Certified Diabetic Educator on staff that performs weekly assessments for each patient with diabetes.  The CDE is also available for consultation with the other medical team members.  Collaboration and consultation occurs on a weekly basis with outside medical specialists, such as the patient’s endocrinologist, to ensure the best individualized care and treatment are provided for each unique patient.

Melrose Center offers compassionate, expert care for patients navigating the complexity of diabulimia. While it has treated all eating disorders since 1986, its specialized diabulimia program began in 2005. Located in a wooded suburb of Minneapolis, the facility resembles a dormitory and provides all levels of care, including intensive residential treatment for those who are physically compromised. Each patient is supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes a therapist, dietitian, medical provider, and CDCES. As part of a larger health system, Melrose partners with the HealthPartners Institute International Diabetes Center, with endocrinology involvement and psychiatrists on staff for medication management of anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. The CDCES meets regularly with patients and facilitates groups on carb counting, portions, and insulin dosing, while dietitians provide education on meal planning and snacks. Therapists help patients process individual factors contributing to the eating disorder and lead skills-based groups to manage urges and emotions.

We’re a team of expert clinicians committed to helping people with diabetes feel confident and comfortable around food! We take an individualized, weight-inclusive, trauma informed approach to support your recovery from diet culture and disordered eating… without losing sight of your diabetes goals. We help our clients learn to care for their bodies, navigate life with diabetes, and discover a more peaceful relationship with food. We offer both individual counseling and groups to support humans with all kinds of diabetes, and all forms of disordered patterns around food and diabetes care.  We support people with all forms of diabetes including Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, Pre Diabetes/Insulin Resistance, Gestational Diabetes, LADA/Type 1.5 Diabetes, MODY, CFRD, and Type 3c Diabetes. We support people navigating all forms of disordered eating including insulin omission, restrictive eating, food fears, binge eating, purging, compulsive exercise, chronic dieting, emotional eating, night eating and more. We understand how diabetes-specific behaviors (like carb counting, glucose monitoring, and medication dosing and side effects) can become intertwined with disordered patterns. Our approach supports medical safety while carefully untangling these behaviors, so diabetes care no longer fuels the eating disorder.

The Gaudiani Clinic is specifically designed to meet the needs of its clientele, offering superb medical care in a comfortable and highly discreet private practice setting. Once a consultation is scheduled, prior records are reviewed and communication with current treatment providers takes place. The evaluation may include blood work, EKG, vital signs, and a physical exam, with some elements completed externally for virtual visits. Patients have time to share their full story, ask questions, review findings, and collaborate on a plan of care. When needed, staff coordinate additional services such as imaging, diagnostic procedures, and referrals to sub-specialists. By the end of the first visit, patients leave with a clear understanding of their status and plan of care. Those who choose ongoing care may become clinic members, gaining timely access to the medical team, telemedicine services, review of outside data, individualized referrals, and support with treatment program intake and medical clearances.
