Ed's World          by Ruth Holmes

I’ve lied to the people I thought I could trust.
Deception and fraud were clearly a must
So my friends they all left me, and yours surely will too.
So prepare for goodbyes to the life you once knew.

Cause your living in ed’s land, and he’s in control.
He’ll take over your life, your mind, and your soul.
You think you have power, but that’s no longer true.
If you want your life back you know what to do.

Kick Ed to the curb, and prepare for a fight.
Cause he’s not leaving easy, but look hard for the light.
At the end of the tunnel you’ll be beaten and bruised.
But take a deep breath, cause your life starts anew.

This moment is precious so breathe it all in.
Now your life is your own it can truly begin.
Now the road might get bumpy when ed’s sure to come back.
And don’t be naïve because he’s gonna attack.

But if you stay steadfast; have faith everyday.
The darkness that Ed is just won’t find a way.
Not into your heart, your mind or your soul.
And suddenly you’ll find your body is whole.

I know it seems hard and the journey seems long.
But just keep moving forward and you can not go wrong.
This road to recovery, yes it will be hard.
But your other choice is sitting inside a graveyard.

A coffin your home, or your ashes they’ll scatter.
And at that point I promise size really won’t matter.
So think twice the next time that you’re skipping your meds.
Cause the future for you is a hospital bed.
