Center for Change provides 24 hour, 7 day a week diabulimia treatment, nursing, and dietary care which moves patients from unstable blood sugars that are generated by their eating disorder, through the refeeding process into stable blood sugars and towards a healthy and individualized weight range. In addition to nursing staff, we have physicians and nurse practitioners who evaluate patients consistently and provide medical interventions related to their specific needs. Located in Orem, Utah, Center for Change has a Certified Diabetic Educator on staff that performs weekly assessments for each patient with diabetes. The CDE is also available for consultation with the other medical team members. Collaboration and consultation occurs on a weekly basis with outside medical specialists, such as the patient’s endocrinologist, to ensure the best individualized care and treatment are provided for each unique patient.

Park Nicollet Melrose Center's diabulimia program was initiated in conjunction with The International Diabetes Center in 2009 and is the longest running eating disorder program for people with type 1 diabetes. Being a part of the Park Nicollet Medical Center, they are well equipped to manage new or worsening diabetes complications. Their facility is similar to a large, upscale dormitory set in a beautifully wooded area in the suburbs of Minneapolis. The complexity of treating people with comorbid eating disorder and type 1 diabetes is well understood by the team of psychologists, dietitians, doctors, nurses and other specialists. They have diabetes education groups taught by a CDE, and meal groups which allow patients with type 1 diabetes to eat together and work on carbohydrate counting, portions and proper insulin doses with a dietitian. Melrose Center is a great place if anger or denial towards diabetes or insulin is a big part of your eating disorder.
